If you attended the 2020 edition of Pass the SALT, a conference dedicated to free software and security, you may have just stumbled upon a talk I gave there. The talk was about how the two specifications that form FIDO2 aim to replace passwords for good. It goes through the basics and also goes into a bit more detail than what you may find out there, while keeping it under 40 minutes.
These specifications aim to drastically reduce user friction by getting rid of passwords and the associated problems while keeping strong account security. The slides are available for download here and the video of the talk has now been published and is available for streaming here.
